The Horse Restaurant: Taste the Tradition of Fresh Seafood and American Cuisine

My Dad's favorite restaurant. The waitresses know him and treat him special. The food is excellent. He especially loves the swordfish. The portions are large. He usually has another meal at home from the leftovers. We still refer to it as The Horse and Carriage. Though the name is changed, the food and service is still the best around!

What a gem! Great service, delicious food and it's so cozy, was all decorated for fall and halloween. Highlights: onions rings and the apple pie! Thank you so much Junior and Gail for making our trip to Newport even more memorable, it was worth the detour.

Saddled up to the Horse N Carriage on our way to Gillette Stadium for some alcohol with a side of food. This spot came recommended to us from a local who partakes in prime rib night on Fridays and I’m glad we listened to him for once! I had the BBQ chicken wrap, Carly had the Salmon bowl, Mike had the steak wrap, and Nickens had…ginger ale. The food was great as was our server, Junior! Washed it all down with some switchbacks and continued our journey. Thanks for a great pit stop Horse N Carriage!

Rum punch, chicken Piccata, grape nut pudding - wow every bite was yummy! Not bland, not too spicy, all tasted perfectly fresh, excellent. Their desserts come from Guarino's in Norwood. My fav bakery since leaving Boston. Their Italian rum cake, yummy - woohoo on the menu! You won't be disappointed with the Horse!! Save room for dessert!

What a great place! We had a party of 17 people and the staff handled us with ease. Everyone’s food came out together and hot. Waitress didn’t miss a thing. The Horse is warm and inviting. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Every minute and taste was old time America perfect . From the amazing fish and chips , the caring fun server Amy, to lemon and chocolate cakes , it was a dream . The captains daughter double IPA was exceedlngly just right

Best meal we've had in a long time. My husband had the NY sirloin and shrimp. I had the duck. I've had duck before elsewhere and it was awful so I didn't think I liked it. Let me tell you, this was incredible: cooked to perfection and I highly recommend. Drinks were amazing (I had a purple blackberry drink - WOW!). We are lucky to have an amazing restaurant right down the street.

My husband and I were in town for the Sunday game. Saturday was our first evening after a 9hr drive and we were hungry!! Given we live in a mountain area where the closest legit seafood place to us is 4 hours away, we wanted seafood! I got the baked stuffed shrimp and my husband got the seafood platter with scallops, clam strips and haddock nuggets. Sweet potato fries and onion rings too. Everything was so delicious and we were starving, I didn't get any food pics Gayle was our server and she was hands-down the best!! She was friendly, attentive and accommodating. Choosing dinner at The Horse was definitely a good choice. It was like walking into a hometown restaurant where you are family, even when you're a stranger. The atmosphere was inviting, not pretentious at all. The only downside was watching the amazing looking prime rib come out of the kitchen after already making our dinner choices, and finding out they are closed on Sundays. If we ever find ourselves back near Gillette Stadium, The Horse is where we're going and im getting the prime rib this time around!
